Graduate Trainee Accountant

Location: Bristol (Hybrid Working, 3 days in the office)
Salary: Competitive + Full ACA/ACCA Study Support + Bonus & Benefits

A well-established and growing accountancy practice is seeking a Graduate Trainee Accountant to join its Bristol office. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to begin a career in accountancy while working towards a professional ACA or ACCA qualification within a supportive and progressive environment.

Part of a wider regional group, the firm combines the benefits of a successful and growing organisation with the friendly, collaborative atmosphere of a local practice. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of clients and service lines, receiving hands-on experience from day one whilst being fully supported through your professional studies.

The Role

As a Graduate Trainee Accountant, you will receive structured training and mentorship while gaining exposure across accounts preparation, audit, tax and general practice work.

This is a genuinely varied role designed to help you develop into a well-rounded accounting professional, providing insight into multiple areas of practice rather than specialising too early.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for a range of businesses.
  • Supporting audit assignments and fieldwork.
  • Preparing personal and business tax returns.
  • Assisting with bookkeeping and management accounts.
  • Preparing working papers and supporting schedules.
  • Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
  • Supporting senior team members on a variety of client assignments.
  • Developing knowledge of accounting standards, tax legislation and audit procedures.
  • Building professional relationships with clients and colleagues.

Previous accountancy practice experience is not required, although internships, placements or relevant work experience would be advantageous.

Culture & Working Environment

The firm prides itself on being forward-thinking, open, supportive and people-focused. Employees enjoy a professional environment without unnecessary corporate formality, creating a workplace that is relaxed, friendly and collaborative.

The leadership team maintains an open-door approach and is genuinely invested in employee development, wellbeing and career progression. Team members are encouraged to share ideas, take ownership of their work and develop at their own pace with support from experienced colleagues.

Flexibility and trust are central to the firm's culture, making it an excellent environment in which to begin a long-term career.

Benefits

  • Full ACA or ACCA study support.
  • Referral and incentive programmes.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Additional 3-day Christmas office closure.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Core hours of 10am–3pm.
  • Condensed hours and 9-day fortnight options available.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Long-term career progression within a growing organisation.

The Opportunity

This role would suit an ambitious graduate looking for a genuine training opportunity within a modern and growing accountancy practice. You will gain exposure to accounts preparation, audit and tax work while working towards a professional qualification, supported by a friendly team committed to helping you succeed and develop your career.
