Role Overview
We are recruiting an experienced and commercially focused Civils Project Manager to lead the delivery of civil engineering projects across the Midlands and South West.
As a Civils Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of projects from mobilisation through to completion. Working across a range of civil engineering, infrastructure, drainage, remediation and groundworks projects, you will manage multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This is a predominantly site-based role requiring strong project leadership, technical knowledge and stakeholder management skills. The successful Civils Project Manager will be comfortable working across multiple project locations and will play a key role in maintaining client satisfaction and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Management
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of civil engineering projects from mobilisation to completion
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
- Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors
- Maintain operational oversight of multiple projects where required
- Lead project planning, sequencing and resource allocation activities
- Implement recovery plans where programme or budget risks are identified
- Maintain a strong site presence and oversee daily operations
- Monitor project performance, productivity and quality standards
- Lead site meetings, toolbox talks and progress reviews
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with specifications and drawings
- Manage subcontractor performance and site coordination activities
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality and accountability
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and CAD plans
- Undertake or oversee setting out activities, including levels, coordinates and gradients
- Produce and maintain project programmes using Microsoft Project
- Monitor project costs and work closely with commercial teams to achieve margin targets
- Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities and material take-offs
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders
- Provide regular project reporting, forecasts and programme updates
- Represent the business at client meetings and senior project reviews
- Ensure a professional and proactive approach to customer service
- Protect and enhance the company's reputation through successful project delivery
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental and CDM regulations
- Promote best practice across all projects and site operations
- Lead by example in maintaining safe systems of work
- Ensure quality assurance processes and inspections are completed effectively
- Drive continuous improvement across project delivery and operational performance
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience as a Civils Project Manager, Project Manager or Senior Site Manager within civil engineering
- Strong background delivering:
- Groundworks
- Drainage
- Infrastructure projects
- Remediation works
- Civil engineering construction projects
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and site teams
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and programme management
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Experience using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel and stay away when required
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management (Black Card)
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Experience producing Bills of Quantities and material take-offs
- Experience undertaking setting out activities
Qualifications & Training
- SMSTS (Essential)
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a similar civils or infrastructure environment
- Additional training and professional development will be supported where required
