Engineering Geologist
Bristol
£30,000 - £42,000 + Benefits

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Engineering Geologist to join a well-established ground investigation consultancy based in Bristol. This is a varied role offering an excellent balance of site and office work, with projects spanning residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure developments across the South West and further afield.

The successful Engineering Geologist will play a key role in delivering ground investigations from start to finish. You will be responsible for supervising site investigations, overseeing drilling contractors and trial pitting operations, logging soil and rock to BS5930, undertaking groundwater and gas monitoring, collecting environmental and geotechnical samples, and carrying out in-situ testing. You will also ensure health and safety standards are maintained on site while liaising with clients and subcontractors throughout each project.

When office-based, you will be responsible for preparing factual ground investigation reports, producing borehole and trial pit logs, interpreting field data, assisting with geotechnical assessments, and working alongside senior engineers and engineering geologists to deliver high-quality reports. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to project planning and develop your technical reporting skills as your experience grows.

To be considered, you should have:

  • A degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a ground investigation or site supervision role.
  • Experience logging soils and rock in accordance with BS5930.
  • Knowledge of trial pitting, drilling supervision, sampling and monitoring techniques.
  • Strong communication and report writing skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites when required.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality site investigations. In return, you will receive ongoing technical training, support towards professional development, a competitive salary, and genuine opportunities to progress your career within engineering geology.
