An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and detail-focused Bookkeeper to join a well-established public sector organisation in Brislington on a six-month temporary contract.

Your new role

• Maintaining the organisation's financial records and accounting systems
• Processing purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions
• Raising invoices and processing supplier payments
• Performing bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
• Managing employee expense claims and credit card transactions
• Assisting with cash flow monitoring and financial reporting
• Supporting month-end and year-end finance processes
• Processing journals, accruals and prepayments
• Maintaining accurate VAT records and supporting VAT returns
• Assisting with audit preparation and responding to information requests
• Ensuring compliance with internal controls, financial regulations and public sector procedures

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience in a Bookkeeper, Finance Officer, Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant role
• Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge
• Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
• A proactive attitude with a commitment to accuracy
