The Role
As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for running CNC machines safely and efficiently, ensuring components are produced to the required quality standards and delivery schedules.
Working closely with Setters, Programmers, and Production Leaders, you'll monitor machine performance, carry out routine inspections, and ensure production targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC milling and/or turning machines in line with production requirements.
- Load and unload components and materials safely.
- Monitor machine performance and machining cycles.
- Carry out in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Identify quality issues and escalate concerns where necessary.
- Ensure components are produced to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Complete production paperwork and records accurately.
- Change tools and offsets when required and trained to do so.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area in line with 5S standards.
- Support production targets, quality objectives, and on-time delivery requirements.
- Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as:
- Micrometers
- Verniers
- Plug Gauges
- Basic inspection equipment
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to identify and report machining or quality issues.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience operating CNC milling or CNC turning machines.
- Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls.
- Previous experience within aerospace, precision engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
- Experience using CMM or Opticline inspection equipment.
