As Principal Hydrologist, you will provide both technical and managerial leadership across the hydrology team, ensuring the successful delivery of projects while maintaining the highest technical standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the delivery of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), drainage strategies, hydrological assessments and technical reports.
• Managing multiple complex projects from initial proposal through to successful completion.
• Providing technical leadership and quality assurance across all hydrology and flood risk projects.
• Leading, mentoring and developing Hydrologists, Consultants and Senior Consultants within the team.
• Managing team workload, resources and project priorities.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, the Environment Agency and other stakeholders.
• Preparing fee proposals, project programmes and supporting business development activities.
• Identifying new business opportunities and contributing to company growth.
• Overseeing SuDS strategies, hydraulic modelling and flood mitigation solutions.
• Reviewing and approving technical reports to ensure compliance with industry standards and current legislation.
• Conducting site visits where required and ensuring all health & safety procedures and RAMS are adhered to.
• Supporting the strategic development of the hydrology division.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree (BSc or MSc) in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geography or a related discipline.
• Significant consultancy experience within hydrology, flood risk and drainage.
• Chartered status (CIWEM or equivalent) or be working towards achieving it.
• Extensive experience producing Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and hydrological reports.
• Proven experience managing projects, clients and technical teams.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience preparing fee proposals and managing project budgets.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to balance technical delivery, people management and business development.
