We are currently working with a South West based Local Authority who are looking for two Assistant Team Managers to join their team
These critical interim positions are designed to provide management oversight during a period of reduced substantive capacity, supporting safe service delivery, strengthening operational stability, and ensuring consistent practice standards across the county
Job: Assistant Team Manager (2 Positions Available)
Duration: 3 – 6 Months (Interim)
Start date: ASAP
Rate: £42 per hour via Umbrella, Inside IR35
Site presence: Hybrid (Flexible remote working and office presence depending on service demand)
Available Opportunities
CYPDT ATM: A county-wide Assistant Team Manager role within the Children and Young Persons Disability Team, providing critical management oversight, ensuring appropriate supervision, and supporting safe service delivery
Peripatetic ATM: A county-wide peripatetic role established to provide flexible, responsive management support across Safeguarding and Assessment Services (SASS) teams experiencing capacity gaps, enabling targeted deployment to areas of highest need
Role Details
Manage, co-ordinate, and lead dedicated team members, including providing critical operational oversight and deputising for the Team Manager during absences
Undertake regular supervision and performance appraisals for team members in accordance with council policies
Allocate work, monitor quality and outputs, and make clinical judgements regarding interventions, child protection procedures, and case closures
Ensure all casework adheres to relevant statutory timescales, including single assessments, child in need procedures, and public law outline processes
Convene and chair case-specific, liaison, and multi-agency collaborative meetings to ensure effective joint working practices
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and guidance, including the Children’s Act, Care Act, and Working Together to Safeguard Children requirements
Assist with file audits and the robust management of resources to ensure value for money in service delivery
Requirements
Dip SW / CQSW / CSS or equivalent professional social work qualification
Proven operational knowledge and experience working with disabled children or within safeguarding and assessment frameworks
Experience undertaking Section 47 investigations, multi-agency risk assessments, and working within court proceedings
Prior experience in staff/student supervision, consultation, or team management
Must hold an Enhanced DBS clearance and Social Work England registration (formerly GSCC)
