Biomedical Field Service Engineer

Bristol & Surrounding Area | Monday to Friday | 37.5 Hours | Car Allowance

An excellent opportunity for a hands-on Biomedical Field Service Engineer to join a growing UK healthcare engineering team, delivering essential maintenance, repair, and asset management services across hospital sites. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability and safety of critical medical equipment used in patient care every day.

Must-Have Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
  • OR qualification in Engineering, Electronics or Medical Technologies (e.g. Biomedical Engineering)

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 2 years UK biomedical engineering experience (essential)
  • Experience servicing and repairing medical equipment such as:
  • Patient monitoring systems
  • Diathermy / electro-surgical units
  • Theatre tables
  • Defibrillators
  • Infusion and volumetric devices
  • Basic familiarity with anaesthesia equipment
  • Field service experience (preferred)
  • Experience working in UK clinical environments with patient interaction
  • Strong customer-facing experience in a service environment
  • Familiarity with UK healthcare regulatory and compliance standards

Role Purpose

To provide daily on-site medical equipment repair, preventative maintenance, and asset management in line with contractual KPIs across healthcare locations. You will work as part of a field service engineering team, supporting high standards of patient safety, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Task list

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on medical equipment as per manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Complete repairs as required on medical equipment as per manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Complete associated administrative work needed to close repairs and preventative maintenance as outlined in Ergéa procedures.
  • Travel to various sites as required to perform corrective and preventative maintenance
  • Maintain safe working practices within the hospital environment
  • Exceed contract KPIs to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Maintain spare part stock wherever necessary
  • Directly support the Team as needed
  • Schedule and complete workload for assigned customers within area
  • Maintain service documentation in line with business requirements
  • Responsible for escalating and defining necessary resources to maintain equipment
  • Responsible for delivering customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers for spare part and contract quotations
  • Ensure data integrity within Ergéa’ s management systems
  • Meet with OEM service staff and management when required
  • Maintain tools and test equipment in line with Ergéa Standards
  • Attend customer meetings when required
  • Review ways to improve productivity and reduce operating expenditure
  • Be flexible in approach and prepared to occasionally work out-of-hours to meet customer needs
  • Mentoring of Junior Engineers where required

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • HNC in Electrical Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Qualification in Engineering, electronics or medical technologies such as biomedical engineering

Essential Skills

  • Confidence in working on various pieces of medical equipment
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and processes.
  • Customer and quality focus
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication
  • Hold a clean UK driving licence

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 2 years Biomedical experience in the service and repair of medical equipment: Patient monitoring, Diathermies (electro-surgery units), Theatre tables, Defibrillators, Infusion & volumetric devices and familiarity with Anaesthesia equipment
  • Have customer service skills and the ability to be confident in customer facing environments
  • Familiarity with appropriate national and local regulatory standards
  • Worked in clinical environment and involving patient communication
  • Field service experience preferable
  • Experience of working in the UK

  • Role Location - Field based – Bristol and surrounding areas
  • UK Travel - Yes (between sites) and occasional – meetings/training
  • International Travel - Possible – Training Courses
