We have an exciting opportunity to join our Security Lab as an AI Security Research Engineer. The role will be focused on AI security in edge architectures. More specifically combining knowledge of ML and system security to robustly protect models and data and AI applications on client devices. 

You will be contributing to HP’s security research, providing analysis of use cases and threats as well as security designs and prototypes, helping inform the design of future products and services. You will be working closely with other AI security researchers, and with security technologists across HP. The ideal candidate would have a solid background in machine learning, knowledge of computer security, with a good technical understanding of system software. This position requires a strong engineer who can communicate concepts, architecture and design clearly and in doing so influence others in the team and beyond.

Responsibilities For The AI Security Research Engineer

  • Develop concepts for edge based AI applications and validate their value proposition and security requirements.
  • Build prototypes to de-risk and show the feasibility of ideas
  • Develop new security designs to support AI applications.
  • Document use cases, architecture in writing and communicate concepts through presentations.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment that iterates and evolves rapidly 

Job Requirements  for The AI Security Research Engineer

  • Experience in, or knowledge of, machine learning solution architectures including Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Strong ML and software engineering skills  
  • Knowledge or interest in computer security 
  • An ability to convey technical knowledge to both technical experts and non-technical teams alike

The following Skills And Attributes are a Plus 

  • Experience in, or knowledge of, machine learning security risks 
  • Knowledge of hardware, firmware and system software architectures
  • Knowledge of operating system and hypervisor technologies
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent
