iO Associates is proud to be working with a forward-thinking engineering organisation at the cutting edge of drilling technology. As they continue to expand their specialist engineering function, we're looking for a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to join their team.
- The Role
- Your Responsibilities
- Build and refine 3D CFD models for current and next-gen tools
- Validate simulations with test/field data to ensure accuracy
- Analyse and optimise internal fluid behaviours and tool performance
- Collaborate with mechanical design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
- Support test rig design and execution for model validation
- Prepare and present findings clearly to stakeholders
- Contribute to obsolescence reviews and product lifecycle support
- Stay current with emerging tech relevant to complex fluid systems
- Occasional international travel to support global projects
- What We're Looking For
- BEng or MEng in Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' CFD or fluid dynamics experience
- Proficiency with Ansys Fluent, 3D CAD (ideally Creo), and MS Office
- Strong grasp of fluid mechanics, turbomachinery, and hydraulics
- Skilled in simulation interpretation, model validation, and analysis
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage priorities
- Bonus Experience
- Downhole or non-Newtonian fluid experience
- Python (e.g., PyFluent), Matlab, or open-source CFD tools (e.g., OpenFOAM)
- Broader simulation background: FEA, stress/dynamics, system modelling
