Our client, a prominent player in the defence sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Research Engineer to join their team. This permanent role offers a fantastic opportunity to utilise engineering skills within the dynamic environment of defence research and development.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you'll contribute at the earliest stages of the product lifecycle, investigating and evaluating a variety of advanced technologies for potential application in communication systems. Areas of research may include next-generation communication algorithms, software-defined radio architectures, quantum and optical communications, artificial intelligence, and more.
Experience
You will have experience in conducting research and generating innovative conceptual ideas, gained through experience in industry, academia, or both.
You are comfortable working independently within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong commitment to achieving research objectives.
Additionally, you may bring the ability to carry out technical investigations, assess complex problems, and propose well-founded design solutions-contributing to a culture of creativity and innovation.
We are interested in speaking to individuals with a range of skills and experience, from researchers and technologists to system designers, engineers, technical project leads and everything in between.

We are looking for experience in any of the following skill areas:
- Conducting research through literature surveys
- Interpreting system requirements
- RF / Microwave systems knowledge
- Familiarity with digital signal processing / waveform techniques
- Use of modelling tools such as MATLAB or Simulink
- Awareness of embedded system design
- Good communication skills with the ability to produce high quality written reports and presentations to internal and external customers
- Working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, and external organisations such as universities, suppliers and customers.
- Bonus: Up to £2,500 (based on performance).
