Job Overview
The post holder will:
Provide operational assistance to the Cancer MDT and Performance Manager.
Be the first point of contact for daily operational issues and escalate where necessary.
Implement effective processes and procedures to manage all cancer patients in
line with clinical and waiting times guidelines.
Provide leadership and support to the administrative staff within the
agreed services with agreement from the Cancer Services Manager and
MDT and Performance Manager
Provide daily support and direction for PTL meetings and tracking to support performance improvements across all sites.
To provide leadership to areas of responsibility and be available to give advice
to staff and escalate as appropriate to the senior management team.

Main duties of the job
Performance
- To ensure processes are in place for the early identification of problems relating to the management of patients on a cancer pathway.
- To meet on a regular basis with the Cancer MDT and Performance Manager to discuss issues relating to the management of the Trust PTL and monitoring meetings.
- StaffingTo support the management of all administrative and clerical staff within Cancer Services. This will include:
- Ensuring the administrative workload within the department is within acceptable levels and fairly distributed.
- To discuss and plan with the senior management team any proposal to review the administrative and clerical work within the department.
- To be able to identify poor performance across administrative and clerical staff and to be able to effectively resolve problems or situations that may arise.
- To support the monitoring and management of absences and the provision of absence data to the Department of Human Resources.
- To provide effective leadership in order to promote a high-quality and motivated team.
- To lead in the recruitment, orientation program, and training of staff as required.
- To attend the weekly Cancer PTL meetings to highlight and discuss patients on the 62 Day pathway.
- To identify any areas of the patient pathway that require improvement.
- To work with the Cancer MDT and Performance Manager on any improvements to the accuracy and appropriateness of data capture and reporting.

- To attend meetings, training, and briefing sessions appropriate to the role and take notes as required for feedback to colleagues or formal minutes as appropriate.
- To maintain effective communication by holding regular team/department meetings, ensuring the Trust and Department’s team briefing system is robust
- To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post, as agreed by the senior management team.
