Role Overview

As the Secondary design manager, you will be the technical authority for secondary design at Ethical Power and shall be able to solve any issues/queries related to secondary design. To deliver the projects you will rely on the secondary design engineers and sub-contractors. You will ensure the success of the project from a secondary design perspective, from the tendering stage to pre-construction, design and post-construction/commissioning. You will be responsible for developing the required processes and procedures, maintain the secondary design software and lead the secondary design team to meet the business needs.

What will you be doing?

  • Acting as approving technical authority in the production of:
  • Support Panel Manufacturers queries
  • Support on-site Secondary Design issues – Red/Green markup drawings
  • Drive the introduction of the secondary design software package
  • Continuously improve/maintain the secondary design software to meet business needs
  • Lead internal and external technical meetings related to secondary designs
  • Resolve any designs issues/queries that arise on site
  • Sign-off of the relevant sections of the ERs, appendices and schedules of all new contracts.
  • Minimising operation expenditure within the business wherever possible from a design perspective.
  • Provide training and ensure that direct reports work to the company processes, procedures and policies.
  • Support Secondary design duties if/when required.
  • Produce designs that follow (as applicable):
  • Secondary Designs up to 132kV
  • Bill of Materials
  • Standard designs for 33/66/132kV systems
  • EP policies
  • UK standards
  • DNO/IDNO policies

What are we looking for?

  • Solid experience in secondary design
  • EHV substation project design experience up to 132kV
  • AutoCAD
  • Excellent knowledge all published guidelines, standards, policies and procedures, from national and international standards to DNO and EP policies, to ensure satisfactory delivery of work
