Role purpose

Test Facilities Systems Engineers are responsible for the systems design, specification and definition of gas turbine research and test facilities in Derby, Bristol, Solihull and worldwide. The role offers opportunities for developing skills, knowledge and experience in this exciting industry.

Responsibilities

Work Experience

  • Work as part of a multi-discipline team to provide technical expertise in the development, integration and verification of systems used for the development and testing of Gas Turbine engines.
  • Lead the Development of a Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) for the Measurement and Test UK organisation.
  • Apply systems engineering processes in line with industry standards and programme requirements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across all disciplines at a system level.
  • Lead the development of stakeholder needs analysis and concept development.
  • Lead the development of system architectures and interface definitions.
  • Lead and develop the process of Requirements elicitation, decomposition, allocation, traceability and management.
  • Creating and maintaining requirements documentation and specifications for systems and sub systems.
  • Lead the Creation of Concept of Operation (CONOPS) where appropriate
  • Lead the Development of verification and validation strategies and test plans and certification application such as CE and UKCA marking
  • Support lifecycle milestone design reviews
  • Support risk management and safety reviews in line with HSE control standards and HSE law.

Experience/Qualifications Required

  • Degree level in Engineering or equivalent experience in industry.
  • Candidates should have previous Systems Engineering experience.
  • Experience with the application of ISO15288 (System Lifecycle Processes)
  • Experience in managing systems engineering for a product throughout a diverse supply chain for the product’s whole lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and when it should be applied.
  • Excellent communication, written, interpersonal and presentation skills, with ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to work accurately and at pace. Driven to succeed and can take the lead in identifying project requirements, specifying and executing packages of work.
  • Working knowledge of DOORS is preferred
  • Agile and adaptable when problem solving, with the drive to complete the task.
  • Self-motivated team player, with good interpersonal, planning and execution skills

Additional Skills/experience Advantageous But Not Essential

  • Advantageous to have domain knowledge of test facilities and sub-system test facilities.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine engines
  • Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems
  • Advantageous for the candidate to be certified status of CSEP or ESEP from INCOSE
  • Exposure to safety critical systems and functional safety analysis tools such as FMECA
