Purpose Of The Role

  • To monitor the performance and supervise/assist the work of a team of Yard Operatives to ensure duties are completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Conduct stock take of materials on site and book haulage accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritise, allocate and monitor the work of Yard Operatives to ensure all tasks and responsibilities are completed within the required timescales and that safe working procedures are adhered to
  • Engage positively with BWC employees, including Supervisors and Compliance Officers, as well as external companies etc
  • Work closely and communicate with other departments to ensure operation run smoothly
  • Liaise with the mobile plant companies to organise repairs
  • Review operational services and identify opportunities to achieve efficiencies and improve the overall efficiency within the yard environment
  • Guide and improve employee engagement and the safety culture within the organisation contributing to a positive and safe working environment while promoting and working to our company values
  • Drive and operate vehicles and equipment as required by the company and in accordance with the valid licence, company safety procedures, legal requirements, experience and training for that vehicle / equipment
  • Vehicle tipping and loading, operating a counterbalance forklift, Front end loading shovel and LGV shunter experience (some training can be given)
  • Ensure weighbridge tickets and associated administration are completed accurately and to agreed deadlines
  • Monitoring and ensuring quality control - contamination checks and compliance testing.

Essential Requirements For The Role

  • Relevant experience which demonstrates the ability to effectively provide guidance, instruction, support and motivation to an operational team
  • Relevant experience of both forklift truck and loading shovel duties
  • Professional, confident interpersonal skills for face-to-face liaison with both internal customers and external buyers
  • Demonstrable experience of the ability to remain effective, whilst adapting to changing tasks or priorities, to meet operational requirements
  • Demonstrable, competent IT skills and relevant experience which demonstrates the ability to undertake general administration duties with a keen attention to detail
  • A good understanding of health & safety within the workplace
  • Driving licence valid for use in the UK
