We are looking for an experienced Practitioner Psychologist with an advanced knowledge of scientific research to join the Women's and Children's Division at UHBW.
This is a leadership role for psychological research within the Trust on behalf of the newly commissioned Children and Young People's Gender Service (South West) (CYPGS) and Psychological Health Services (PHS). The post-holder will work closely with the Research Director for CYPGS and PHS, Clinical Director of CYPGS, Head of PHS, and consultant and practitioner psychologists to provide expert psychological research knowledge and skills across the organisation and deliver education and training to a range of healthcare professionals.
This role will provide direct, advanced clinical research practice, which is critical to identify key practice problems and relate to patients across their lifespan and their needs, with a view to improving clinical practice and service delivery at UHBW. The post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively across organisational, geographical and professional boundaries, using advanced knowledge and skills to deliver, shape and develop scientific psychological research, Quality Improvement and audit. Management of senior research posts and oversight of multiple research and QI projects and research governance processes are key responsibilities of this post.

- To provide a lead role in the conduct of psychological research within the Trust on behalf of the Children and Young People’s Gender Service (CYPGS) and Psychological Health Services (PHS).
- To provide expert psychological research knowledge and skills across the organisation within the designated focus of the role.
- To spend at least 20% of their time in direct clinical practice working with patients and carers.
- To provide consultancy to psychologist and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds including wider health professionals, research students, and managers, in research to the designated focus research, audit, and writing publications
- To provide professional leadership in a way that inspires colleagues, improves clinical standards and quality and develops professional practice within psychology.
- To provide a significant level of education and development of psychologists in relation to development of research skills and writing for publication
- To develop and influence practice development guidelines and clinical policies, ensuring that all staff provide high quality, effective and evidence-based care and that evidence in integrated into practice to deliver ‘best care’.
- To collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and influence policies at regional and national level and to establish strong research collaborations with other institutions both nationally and internationally.
