Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum

Contract: Full-Time, 5 days a week (5 out of 7 days, including some weekends)

Now, we’re looking for a visionary Head Chef to lead our kitchen at Bristol City Hall — a truly iconic cultural venue, offering a blend of heritage and modern innovation.

About The Role

As Head Chef, you'll be responsible for overseeing the culinary operations across Create Centre, Central Library, and City Hall, ensuring exceptional dining experiences that celebrate the uniqueness of these iconic locations.

You’ll lead a diverse and dynamic food operation, which includes:

  • A bustling grab & go café for busy city-goers
  • A vibrant assisted-service bistro offering fresh, modern dishes
  • High-profile events and banqueting services for up to 500 guests, where you’ll showcase your creativity and culinary expertise

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and Inspire: Manage and develop a high-performing culinary team, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and a passion for excellence.
  • Menu Creation: Design innovative, on-trend menus that reflect the quality, heritage, and cultural significance of the venue.
  • Maintain Standards: Ensure exceptional food quality, safety, and presentation across all dining outlets and events.
  • Financial Management: Oversee kitchen budgets, food costs, and operational efficiencies to maintain profitability.
  • Hands-On Leadership: Lead by example, with a sharp eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to service excellence.


What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, high-quality environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop your team.
  • A genuine passion for food innovation, with a keen awareness of current industry trends.
  • Thorough knowledge of health & safety, food hygiene, and compliance (including COSHH).
  • Exceptional organisational and financial acumen, with the ability to manage a busy kitchen effectively.
  • A creative flair and the drive to deliver memorable food moments for every guest.
