My client, a large, diverse Multidisciplinary Consultancy is currently searching for a Principal Civil Engineer to join their accomplished team of expert engineers, based in the bustling city of Bristol.

Essential Criteria:

  • Extensive experience in consultancy, across a range of sectors (particularly working on UK residential projects)
  • Familiarity and experience with the relevant industry standard and Section Agreements, including S278, S38, S185, and S104
  • Experience of working with a range of clients, and a good commercial awareness
  • Good working knowledge of a range of relevant software packages, including AutoCAD, Civils 3D, WinDes, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of having delivered a range of projects, from inception through to successful delivery

It would also be beneficial for applicants for the role of Principal Civil Engineer to possess the following:

- Chartered Membership of a recognised Professional Body (or proactively working to attain Chartered Status)

- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills

- Experience of line managing and mentoring colleagues

- A willingness to engage with a range of projects, with a view to developing your career

In the varied role of Principal Civil Engineer, you will join an expert team of engineers and designers in their respective fields. You will be encouraged to develop your repertoire of skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The role will involve several responsibilities, including:

- Overseeing a range of design projects at all stages, from inception through to delivery

- Preparation of fee proposals and tenders, drawing upon technical and commercial experience

- Producing Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Scoping Reports, and Drainage Strategies, as well as overseeing their completion by other colleagues

- Leading your team in the production of conceptual drainage design (incorporating SuDS techniques) and the creation of relevant drainage plans, as well as adoptable roads and highways

- Reviewing a number of reports, calculations, and drawings

- Presenting Flood Risk Appraisals to clients, providing practical risk mitigation, recommendations, and commercial advice
