Algorithm Engineer – Defence/Aerospace - #1719078

Join a specialist team developing advanced algorithms at the core of next-generation Autonomous Systems, Guided Weapons, and ML-enabled defence technologies. You’ll contribute to high-impact programmes across the full engineering lifecycle — from early-stage research and feasibility studies through to development, trials, and in-service enhancement. Focus areas include navigation, guidance, tracking, sensor/data fusion, and machine learning.

1. Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for algorithm development and simulation


2. Degree or PhD in a technical discipline such as Aerospace Engineering, Control Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics


3. Experience in one or more of:
   
   
   
   • Autonomous decision-making and control systems
   
   
   • Navigation, estimation, or tracking algorithms (e.g., Kalman filtering, SLAM)
   
   
   • AI/ML, including real-time implementation and model validation
   
   
   • Verification & validation of complex algorithms in mission-critical systems
   
   
   
   

1. Hybrid/flexible working and multiple career pathways (technical or managerial)


2. Cross-disciplinary collaboration on critical national defence programmes


3. Exposure to complex systems: RF/IR seekers, inertial sensors, thrust vectoring, and more


4. Candidates must be eligible for UK SC (Security Check) clearance
