Job Summary
Business Modernisation for Support (BMfS) is a business change and process re-engineering programme. It seeks to transition Defence from legacy processes to align with leading practice across both the commercial Support sector and with allies. This in turn allows for future Defence business processes to be underpinned by COTS products, cloud-enabled, evergreen IS, integrated with the Defence Digital Backbone, cyber-secure and accessible globally.
The BMfS Business Change Manager (BCM) Air role supports the embedding of new and revised business processes and technology within the organisation. To integrate the project outputs into ‘business as usual’ (BAU), ensuring that activities are planned and completed to enable the business to implement the change and benefits are realised.
The post supports BMfS Programme activity across three functional areas of Business Change Management, Benefits Management and Requirements Management within the programme phases of Modernise and Transform. The focus of activity is anticipated to vary across these functional areas across Air domain as the programme progresses.
The role requires a proactive, self-confident individual willing to engage, network and develop their expertise within their areas of responsibility. Experience within Business Change Management is desirable. Opportunities for development will be provided to support further expansion across the scope of the role. Knowledge or experience in Defence Support Logistics and Engineering in the Air domain is desirable, such as supply chain management, movements management, inventory management and engineering through life support.
There are occasions for travel within the UK and some nights spent away from home are possible.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Supporting business transformation / change activity such as conducting Change Impact Assessments, Communications plans and Change Readiness Assessments. This is to ensure successful adoption and embedding of new BMfS processes and best-practice initiatives.
Using agile principles, engage in the development of work to identify, gather, analyse, and validate current business processes and data flows to establish the ‘As Is’ situation, across the entirety of Defence Support (logistics and engineering).
Taking part in customer stakeholder management including presenting, explaining, and justifying the ‘To Be’ proposals to Air Top Level Budget (TLB) holders and reporting their concerns, acceptance criteria and counter proposals to the Programme.
Ensuring that requirements are set and maintained in alignment with Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs) and interoperability drivers, as part of a pan-DLoD Capability Integration programme management approach.
Managing stakeholder engagements to ensure that Def Sp MP activity is conducted in an efficient manner without overburdening the Front Line Commands (FLCs). Assisting in development of BMfS Communities of Interest (CoI) and Working Groups within Air, such as the Strategic Support Programme (SSP).
Providing Programme representation and inputs to Working Groups (WGs) such as Acceptance Working Groups (AcWG), and Capability Integration Working Groups (CIWGs) for projects; including a secretariat and chair role.
