The University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a new consultant colleague to join the Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and Immune Effector Cell (IEC) Therapy Team. UHBristol is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, and a major teaching and research centre for the South West. The Bristol BMT Unit is a nationally and internationally recognised stem cell transplant unit which performs every type of allograft and is consistently the top recruiter to national transplant studies. In December 2018, the adult BMT Unit became one of the first wave of six UK transplant centres to be commissioned by NHS England to deliver CAR T cells and is also one of 10 funded IMPACT centres.
We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor, with an active interest and experience in BMT and acute leukaemia, to join our BMT and IEC service. This exciting new post will be based at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC). The successful candidate will join the established multi-disciplinary BMT/IEC and leukaemia teams and work alongside the current 4 BMT consultants, 2 BMT/CART Associate Specialists, 3 leukaemia consultants, 3 BMT and 2 leukaemia clinical nurse specialists, and two Advanced practitioners, a BMT/IEC associate specialist, BMT fellow, leukaemia fellow and BMT specialist registrar. The post holder will deliver all aspects of clinical care for patients undergoing allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplantation and IEC therapy, including CAR T cells, in addition to participating in the management of patients with acute leukaemia. The BMT Unit has a very active research portfolio. The role offers opportunities to incorporate research, teaching and leadership roles within the specialty. The successful candidate will lead the department’s well established JACIE quality management programme.
