A progressive and inclusive secondary school in Bristol is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to join its growing DT faculty as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a school that places creativity, sustainability, and problem-solving at the heart of its curriculum. The school is highly regarded for its commitment to design education and its ability to equip students with practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.

The DT department is well-resourced, offering state-of-the-art workshops, digital tools, and access to modern equipment including 3D printers and CAD/CAM software. You will be joining a vibrant, collaborative team that values experimentation, student agency, and excellence in craft and design.

What Makes This School Exceptional?

  • Purpose-built DT classrooms equipped for resistant materials, electronics, and graphics

  • A strong ethos of cross-curricular learning, linking design with sustainability, science, and digital literacy

  • Excellent opportunities for CPD, leadership development, and curriculum design

  • A diverse and inclusive student body who thrive in a hands-on learning environment

  • Supportive leadership with a clear focus on staff well-being and innovation

In This Role You Will:

  • Deliver high-quality DT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with scope for KS5 if desired

  • Foster creativity, resilience, and technical understanding through project-based learning

  • Maintain high standards of safety, organisation, and engagement in practical lessons

  • Support students in producing coursework, portfolios, and final design projects

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through clubs, events, and enterprise initiatives

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • QTS and relevant subject qualifications in Design and Technology

  • A creative and proactive teaching approach, with excellent classroom management

  • Experience teaching product design, resistant materials, or graphics

  • An up-to-date knowledge of health and safety protocols in workshop settings

  • A current Enhanced DBS check or willingness to apply for one

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your passion for design and innovation to a school that will support your professional growth and encourage your ideas. Immediate start available — applications encouraged without delay.
