About Squarcle/The Team

Successfully delivering operational performance in many environments, Squarcle is a fast-growing enterprise design, supply chain and digital consultancy. We exist to help our clients set and realise their performance ambition through the design and execution of better business operations, and through the right application of off the shelf or bespoke software. We are a people orientated organisation and pride ourselves on a "people first" culture and collaborative atmosphere where success and learnings are shared.

Job Overview/Introduction

The Head of Software Engineering will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Squarcle’s software engineering organisation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative technology solutions. This individual will drive the company’s engineering strategy, foster a culture of technical excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

Squarcle is highly committed to equality and diversity in our recruitment and talent management processes.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing software engineering team.

  • Develop and execute the technology roadmap to align with Squarcle’s strategic goals and product road map.

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable cloud-based software solutions.

  • Work with partners to OEM third party technology solutions to ensure “best in class” solutions for non-core features and capabilities.

  • Champion best practices in agile development, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering teams.

  • Work closely with Product teams to drive customer-centric development.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain Squarcle’s competitive edge.

  • Oversee engineering budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships.

  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, coding guidelines, and system architecture best practices.

  • Lead technical due diligence and integration efforts for potential mergers and acquisitions.

Secondary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the Squarcle recruitment and retention activities.

  • Support the development of Squarcle policies and processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Essential

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering.

  • Proven track record of leading cloud-based SaaS development teams.

  • Expertise in modern software architecture, microservices, and cloud platforms (ideally Azure).

  • Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Desirable

  • Understanding of supply chain analytics (would be an advantage).

  • SC clearance.

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 6 months. If you hold dual citizenship or nationality from another country, please make us aware of this during the application phase. We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship.
