Job Description

We are looking for a Business Analyst (BA) to join Defence Business Services (DBS). Our BA’s form part of the Product and Delivery family within the Digital, Information and Technology (DIT) area. BA’s are embedded across all of DBS in every major project, programme, product and service who;

  • analyse and understand a business problem or opportunity
  • undertake research and analysis to understand how a business or business area works, considering the people, organisation, processes, information, data and technology
  • identify areas for improvement, explore feasible options, analyse the effects of change and defining success measures
  • identify and elaborate user and business needs to enable effective design, development and testing of services and business change
  • make recommendations related to prioritisation and minimum viable product by using analysis led insights
  • ensure new products and services meet business and user needs, and are aligned with organisational goals
  • Accurately document, update the relevant stakeholders and present where required
  • understand any business and policy constraints that need to be considered, and assess the implications

As a Senior Business Analyst at Senior Executive Officer grade (SEO) you are expected to have a good understanding of strategic arenas operating at a practitioner level. Leads multiple large or complex projects, usually with line management responsibilities for other Business Analysts. They develop best practice, own stakeholder relationships and manage communities of practice activities (internally and across government).

At this role level, you will:,

  • have functional or people management responsibilities, or a combination of both
  • mentor others
  • develop best practice
  • own stakeholder relationships
  • manage community of practice activities within a business area

Person specification

This role has 1 direct report (HEO).

Desirable

BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis (or willingness to start to undertake in first 12 months).

The Candidate Should Demonstrate Understanding/experience Of

Knowledge of MOD Functional Processes and/or Systems

Knowledge of DBS Operations

Change management / Delivery experience

Experience of Business Analysis within the field of data, finance or technology
