Contract: 3 Months

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared Technical Writer to support the review and enhancement of cyber business cases in preparation for Ofgem’s upcoming determinations. This role requires a strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for executive and non-technical audiences. You will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), cyber teams, and senior stakeholders to refine and strengthen business cases, ensuring clarity, persuasiveness, and alignment with strategic objectives.

The role will involve updating two sets of business cases:

  • New Price Control Period: Seven business cases that are new for the next price control period.

  • Continuing Business Cases: Nine business cases that carry over from the current price control period into the next.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with SMEs and the cyber team to review initial business case drafts, incorporating feedback from Ofgem and internal stakeholders.

  • Update business cases, ensuring risk assumptions align with the latest board-reviewed risk levels.

  • Refine language to ensure clarity, accessibility, and a compelling argument for funding, balancing technical accuracy with executive-level communication.

  • Identify and address areas where Ofgem has raised questions or indicated a lack of clarity in the initial submission.

  • Work closely with the team to structure responses effectively and highlight the implications of not securing funding.

  • Ensure consistency in messaging across all documents while maintaining technical integrity.

  • Support ongoing iterations of the business case, adapting to new feedback and strategic priorities.

  • Complete updates ahead of the draft determination and make further refinements before submission to Ofgem.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong writing and editing experience, particularly in developing business cases for executive and regulatory audiences.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and compelling narratives.

  • Experience working within highly regulated industries, such as energy, finance, or cybersecurity.

  • Familiarity with Ofgem’s processes and regulatory frameworks is desirable.

  • Understanding of the bid process and experience with regulatory submissions.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Background in technical writing, business case development, or marketing communications.

  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all documentation.

  • Highly competent, proactive, and able to take initiative in reviewing and improving business cases.

  • SC Clearance is required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Communications, English, Business, Cyber Security, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in a regulatory or utility environment.

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality documentation under tight deadlines.

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to contribute to critical funding applications in the energy and cyber security sectors.

  • Collaborative work environment with experts in cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and business strategy.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
