The Change Enablement and Service Design Lead will be primarily responsible for the Governance and Control of the Change Enablement process across the portfolio of Services and the delivery of the Design process. Working with key internal and external stakeholders. They will ensure that all day to day operational activities are executed to provide new, existing and changed services with the underpinning support required for successful service delivery across multiple BDUK programs of work.


The position can be located in either Bristol, or Milton Keynes and will require occasional travel to other sites in support of multiple programs of work.


The geographical separation will include regular travelling between Bristol and Milton Keynes, to attend meetings and lead the team consisting of Change Management Specialists and Design Coordination Practitioners.


The Service Design and Transition Lead will be expected to inspire and motivate the team and provide direction across the multiple programs of work. The role will play a fundamental part in driving continuous improvements by working collaboratively with other parts of the wider business, including the Service Management Business Capture Lead to achieve the department’s annual priorities


Responsibilities:


  • Act as Chair for Change Enablement providing governance and control

  • Deliver Change Enablement outcomes balancing effectiveness, throughput, compliance, and risk control.

  • Acts as the Team Lead for Change Enablement, Design Coordination and Transition with responsibility for the day to day leadership of this team.

  • Acts as co-ordination point for any temporary changes to Service Levels required (i.e. additional support coverage of services required by the Customer.

  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges

  • Carries out Impact Assessment in changes to the Service Portfolio.

  • Ensure that all current and planned IT services are supported by fit for purpose processes and procedures for successful execution.

  • Acts as the Single Point of Contact for all Design and Transition resource requirements, engaging with the management team as required to ensure all requests can be adequately resourced before work commences.

  • Defines the design of the processes needed to design, transition, operate and improve the services, architectures and processes

  • Conducts ongoing maturity assessments of the Design and Transition processes on an annual basis.

  • Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems using data and analysis

  • Lead and manage large and complex projects

  • Resolve issues of contention and conflict

  • Bring together and work with a team of people with varied backgrounds - business analysts, technical experts, process owners – to articulate and remedy Design and Transition process issues.

  • Support the Head of Service Management in the delivery of a new service management offering for a new contract.


Desired education and experience:


  • Knowledge and experience of ITSM best practice – preferably having worked across multiple ITSM disciplines.

  • Knowledge and experience of current ITSM toolset MicroFocus Service Management Automation X (SMA-X)

  • Experience and understanding of stakeholder structure

  • Implementing new processes to underpin new and existing programs of work.

  • ITIL V3 Foundation

  • ITIL V3 Intermediate – Service Operations/Design/Transition/CSI or V4 Managing Professional

  • Project Management Methodology knowledge
