About The Opportunity
The Civil Engineering Apprenticeship will join our Transport Planning and Mobility Solutions team which is part of our Cities & Places business unit. We can create thriving places across different scales from regions to cities, neighbourhoods to sites, by offering an integrated design approach. Our business unit brings together transport planners, engineers, architects, designers, surveyors, urban designers and project managers to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients both nationally and internationally.
Our Transport Planning and Mobility Solutions team has an enviable reputation in the UK as a result of our extensive portfolio of high-profile projects. Our projects involve working with various major clients in the transport industry, including local authorities, private sector, and government, throughout the UK and Ireland. Your role will involve working with other technical staff including highway engineers, structural engineers, quantity surveyors and environmental specialists.

You will be assigned to a range of projects and day to day tasks could include
- Designing and engineering traffic management solutions to improve transport networks
- Transformational placemaking to reduce the impact of transport on the built and natural environment
- Developing solutions to improve walking and cycling provision
- Considering solutions that cater for a range of users
- Aligning transport schemes to the current policy context (e.g. decarbonisation, sustainability and economic recovery)
- Use of engineering software such as AutoCAD or Civil3D.

Here's what you'll need
- 120 UCAS points to include Grade C or above in Maths, plus a pass in one of the following subjects Biology, Chemistry, Computing/Computer Science, Design and Technology, Electronics, Engineering, ICT, Further Maths, Music Technology, Physics or Statistics. - A flexible and proactive self-starter who’s passionate about developing new skills
- The ability to adapt and prioritise whilst juggling work and study priorities
- Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real-world problems
- Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements
- A well-rounded person – have you travelled around the world? Worked in a bar? Been captain of a sports team or volunteered for a charity? Tell us - we’re looking for people with interesting stories and experiences!
